The Critical Curiosity Module is our third Learning to Learn module which provides all the materials and activities to run your own half-day workshop to develop capable and effective learners by understanding and strengthening their learning skills.


Critical Curiosity Module focuses on critical thinking skills, the art of asking questions and being curious, and improving analytical skills.

Activity Overview

The Critical Curiosity Module focuses on helping individuals investigate and understand the power and art of asking questions, and the advantages in having an interest in why things happen, how things work, thinking critically and analytically.

The module contains practical experiential activities that small teams (of up to 16 people) can practice together, supported by a trainer or facilitator, and everything required to complete a 2-hour workshop for this module is included.

This module is one of seven other modules within our Learning to Learn Module Package about how we, as individuals, advance and strengthen our learning power and skills. Other modules include Learning and Change, Meaning Making, Creativity, Resilience, Learning Preferences, and Learning Support Relationships.

Timetable and activity outline:

  • 0 - 5 minutes: Introductions & definitions. What do we mean by ‘Critical Curiosity’?
  • 5 - 25 minutes: ‘No such thing as a silly question’
  • 25 - 30 minutes: Asking great questions
  • 30 - 45 minutes: Understanding how to choose the right kind of question
  • 45 - 50 minutes: The NLP ‘Pointer questions’
  • 50 - 65 minutes: The ‘Spark-It’ model and cards
  • 65 - 90 minutes: ‘Mystery Object’ task
  • 90 - 115 minutes: Problem-Solving Task: Coin Sorter
  • 115 - 120 minutes: Summary and learning review
